The first of the many posts to come is the most recent news article which I could find about the two parent family. This article comes from the California Republican Caucus describing how the single family is not cutting it when it comes to children. They hypothesize "a campaign to shift societal norms" in order to overcome the shortfalls which are being seen.

Take a look and tell me what you think?
Briefing Report: The Failure of the Single Parent Family

  1. Katie thank you for a provocative article that raises a lot of valid points. I know that just because a child is raised in a single parent environment does not necessarily condemn him/her to a life of misery and woe. But why do we continue to put our heads in the sand against the ever increasing evidence? Part of what makes this hard is that so many of us know a single parent, or were raised by a single parent, and therefore are hesitant to point fingers. I don't want to condemn single parents but I do want to be honest that traditional two parent homes are better for children.

We had evidence that smoking was bad and told everyone about it, and smoking numbers dropped. If we were more honest about single parent homes, would those numbers drop there too? We must believe that adults can make better choices to protect our children.
